Mar 2nd (Wed) - Dr. Seuss's Birthday & Book Swap
We will be selling Dr. Seuss hats again for an all school celebration for Dr. Seuss's birthday. Hats are $1/each and our goal is to raise enough funds for every student to get a hat. (Please consider donating an extra $1 or $2 to guarantee that every student gets a hat to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday!) The school day will be followed by a fun-tastic evening of book swapping! Families are invited to bring in their gently used books and swap them out for other gently used books. The book swap will be held in the gym at 6:00pm. While folks are browsing the selection of books, students are invited to sign-up to be 'whacky readers' and get up onstage to read-aloud the entertainingly wacky books written by Dr. Seuss. Sign-ups will be available in February!
NOTE: We are asking folks to donate gently used books of all types for our book swap collection. We would really like to emphasize the need for challenging chapter books for some of our advanced readers as our selection is always very slim. The more donations we receive the wider of a selection the students will have to choose from on the night of the book swap. The remaining inventory of books will be used for a Book Share during school hours, where every student in the school will be given a chance to choose a free book to take home.
